WeMulch.com: The Guys that Revolutionized the Land Clearing Industry

Artur Willibald and Jürgen Plessing came together to create a company devoted to connecting end users with forestry and landscaping professionals. The goal was always to make sure that those that needed it were able to reach out to industry professionals that would take care of their needs.

On top of ensuring that end users were able to get the forestry and vegetation land management they needed, Artur and Jürgen have dedicated their careers to promoting the economic and ecological advantages of mulching technology. Read more …

Financial and environmental sustainability was and has always been their primary focus. Land mulching is more than just clearing the land for residential and commercial purposes. It is about utilizing all the tools necessary to leave the earth in the best possible shape while providing end users with the needed services.

Early Days of Mulching

Mulching has come a long way from its early days. Decades before Artur Willibald entered the scene, the first mechanical hedge cutters and brush cutters revolutionized farming and forestry. Mechanical hedge cutters and brush cutters made it easier to cultivate crops quickly and efficiently. They were the biggest thing in agriculture and forestry all the way until the late 1960s. In 1968, Josef Willibald created the flail mowing system that was used in viticulture. It made the farming process so much quicker and more efficient. It became the standard way for users to efficiently and effectively harvest many of their crops.

A problem arose in the land clearing and mulching community around this time. There was a need to clear trees and brush beneath power lines. Some of the conventional methods were proving to be dangerous and there was simply not enough power to cut bigger trees with a rotor. It was common to use chemical agents to kill and reduce vegetation under wires or just slash & burn, but the fire hazard it created was becoming too much.

In 1973, the first hydrostatic vehicle was made in an attempt to streamline the mulching process while putting an end to the use of harsh chemicals or lighting fires which destroyed the land. The hydrostatic vehicle, appropriately named the Hydro-Ax, was the first of its kind and was the start of the new world of land clearing.

It would be another 15 years before someone else would step onto the scene to create something more ingenious than the Hydro. Its replacement would become the basic design of all forestry mulchers with a fixed rotor we know today. Ready more about the history of mulching.

In Comes Artur Willibald

Artur Willibald, who was already familiar with the history and existing technology of flail mulchers and land clearing after working with his uncle, Josef Willibald, had been re-developing the concept of the stump grinder. Stump grinders were powerful and could work their way through large stumps with relative ease.

While observing the stump grinders, Artur considered the possibility of widening the rotor base so that more vegetation could be devoured. With some ingenuity and a lot of work, Artur developed the design that would become today’s standard for modern mulching.

The first prototype of a forestry mulcher launched for the German market in 1991 as UZM580 and was built in 1989.

Artur Willibald Changes the Game

His genius took the concept of the stump grinder, and the confidence to use fixed rotor tools with carbide tips. Unheard before in the world of mulching. After many tests with different carbides and different tools or teeth, Artur revolutionized the entire process, which would lead the path in mechanical mine clearance, agricultural mulching and forestry mulching.

After realizing the success of his creation, Artur Willibald went on to start the company AHWI Maschinenbau GmbH with his brother Hubert. The goal was to provide the most efficient mulching machine which was extremely economical and efficient as the load towards the carrier or tractor was very consistentand. The idea was a great success, and today we can say that his product design and innovation changed the world of forestry, agriculture and mechanical demining.

The new rotor concept was used in multiple applications and machine types

Companies from all over the globe started creating carbon copies of Artur’s design. Although he was the first to develop this style of mulcher, it was quickly picked up and utilized by farmers and forestry professionals everywhere. Artur’s design was a major success, blazing the trail for major players in vegetation management like Fecon in the U.S., FAE in Italy or TMC Cancela in Spain

The Partnership that Created WeMulch.com

In 2015, Jürgen Plessing joined AHWI Maschinenbau GmbH. Heading the Service department, he was working closely with Artur, throughout the entire merger with PRINOTH, which is now one of the leading manufacturers for forestry and mulching equipment including tracked carriers.

AHWI Maschinenbau GmbH became PRINOTH

Jürgen had a vision of connecting forestry professionals with potential clients and end users through an easy-to-use platform. In July 2021, they made their vision a reality. Their connection, which started with AHWI Maschinenbau GmbH and lasted through the PRINOTH merger, led to the start of WeMulch.com.
Together, Jürgen and Artur were able to revolutionize the industry once again by making it easier for those that need mulching and land clearing services to get connected with the ones that can provide them. The goal of environmental sustainability coupled with connecting end users with professionals was born.

The WeMulch.com Mission

WeMulch.com exists today because of the creative genius behind the invention of the modern mulcher. Artur’s invention redesigned the landscape surrounding the land clearing and mulching industry. With his new partnership with Jürgen, they would create WeMulch.com to get the users what they need.

WEMULCH.COM – an on-demand hub designed to connect end users with forestry or landscaping professionals for any type of vegetation & land management jobs.

With a clear emphasis on keeping up with technology and the way that the industry is changing, Artur and Jürgen take pride in the fact that they are able to provide an environmentally friendly and economically sound option for those that need professional land management services.

Through the use of the modern version of Artur’s 1989 invention and online platforms dedicated to matching clients with professionals, WeMulch.com can deliver on its promise that it can get its clients and end users the services that they need. They started in Texas and already have over 100 professionals ready to serve clients and end users all over the lone start state.

Artur and Jürgen have also made it their mission to provide environmentally sustainable services for those seeking land clearing or mulching. Through that, they are able to offer their users an economical and environmentally friendly service.
